Il fondatore di Wikileaks Julian Assange intende fare causa al governo dell’Ecuador per “violazione dei suoi diritti e delle libertà fondamentali” riporta il canale di Sky News.
In precedenza, l’Ambasciata dell’Ecuador a Londra aveva stabilito delle regole di comportamento e comunicazione per Assange, che regolavano l’ordine delle visite, la comunicazione con il mondo esterno e la fornitura di assistenza medica. Il nuovo ordine è entrato in vigore il 13 ottobre.
Secondo il canale, Assange accusa il governo dell’Ecuador di “limitare il suo accesso al mondo esterno”. Ha dichiarato che il governo aveva minacciato di toglierli la protezione garantita dalla concessione dell’asilo politico. Si fa notare che l’avvocato di WikiLeaks Balthazar Garzon è già arrivato in Ecuador per iniziare l’istruttoria per l’udienza prevista per la prossima settimana.
Assange si nasconde nell’ambasciata ecuadoriana a Londra dal 2012. Ha chiesto asilo politico per timore dell’estradizione da parte delle autorità svedesi negli Stati Uniti in connessione con le sue attività di WikiLeaks. In precedenza, il presidente dell’Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, ha affermato che Assange potrebbe lasciare l’ambasciata del paese a Londra in qualsiasi momento, se i suoi diritti verranno rispettati. Moreno ha notato che voleva trovare una via d’uscita dalla situazione con Assange “senza problemi per il suo paese”, per il quale si sta consultando le autorità britanniche e i rappresentanti del fondatore di WikiLeaks. Il ministro degli Esteri ecuadoriano ha osservato che il problema con Assange deve essere risolto: non potrà sempre essere in stato di rifugiato.
